## Before you start
- Any plan. Connecting a domain you own is free on every plan.
- An Aruba login and a published yaya site.
- The domain uses Aruba name servers. With other name servers, Aruba lets you edit only the NS records.

In yaya, open **Website** > **Domain**, type the name in **Hostname**, and click **Connect domain**. Keep the **DNS steps** open.

## Sign in and find the DNS page
1. Go to `admin.aruba.it` and sign in. The user name looks like `123456@aruba.it`.
2. Open the control panel of the domain.
3. Click **Dominio**.
4. Click **Gestione DNS e Name Server**.

The Aruba pages are in Italian. The names in this article are the ones on the screen.

If the domain has the Aruba Redirect service, the **Gestione DNS e Name Server** item is missing. Aruba says to switch the domain to the **Dominio** service. Then you can manage both.

## What the screen calls the fields
- **Nome host** is the host.
- **Nome CNAME** is the target of a CNAME.
- **Valore** is the value of a TXT record.
- **TTL** is a list. Keep the default.

Aruba pages do not say if the panel adds the domain to **Nome host** for you. Type the short name. After you save, read the row in the list. If it shows the domain twice, edit the row.

Aruba pages do not mention a final dot. Type the target as yaya shows it.

## Add the CNAME record for a subdomain or www
1. Click **Aggiungi record**.
2. Choose **CNAME (Canonical NAME)** in the type list.
3. Type `www` in **Nome host**.
4. Paste the yaya target in **Nome CNAME**.
5. Choose the **TTL**.
6. Click **Aggiungi**.

You can click **Pianifica operazione** first. Then you set **Data** and **Orario**. The record becomes active only after that time. Skip this step if you do not need it.

## Use the bare domain
No ALIAS option is documented. Use the www plus redirect route.
1. Connect `www.example.com` in yaya and add the CNAME above.
2. Open the Aruba redirect service for the domain in the control panel.
3. Redirect the bare domain to `https://www.example.com`.

Afterward, open **Gestione DNS e Name Server**. Make sure the `www` CNAME is still there. See [Use a subdomain or www](/support/articles/domains/use-a-subdomain-or-www).

## Add the TXT ownership record
yaya shows a name that starts with `_cf-custom-hostname.`.
1. Click **Aggiungi record** and choose **TXT (Text)**.
2. Type `_cf-custom-hostname.www` in **Nome host**.
3. Paste the yaya value in **Valore**. Do not leave a space at the start or end.
4. Click **Aggiungi**.

For the bare domain, type `_cf-custom-hostname`. Aruba says to leave **Nome host** empty only for a TXT record on the main domain itself, like SPF.

## Delete or replace a conflicting record
1. Find the old record for the same host in the list.
2. Click **Modifica** to change it, or **Elimina** to remove it.
3. Confirm with **Modifica** or **Elimina**.

## Check the result in yaya
1. Open **Website** > **Domain**.
2. Click **Check again**.

DNS can take minutes to hours. yaya sets up HTTPS on its own. There is no deploy step.

Leave your mail records as they are. See [Keep your email working](/support/articles/migrate/keep-your-email-working).

## Fix common problems
**There is no DNS item in the menu.** The domain has the Redirect service. Switch it to **Dominio**.

**You cannot add a CNAME.** The domain uses other name servers. Edit the records at that provider.

**Still waiting.** See [Fix a domain that won't verify](/support/articles/domains/fix-a-domain-that-wont-verify).
