## Before you start
- Any plan. Connecting a domain you own is free on Free, Launch and Grow.
- A Network Solutions login and a published yaya site.
- The **DNS steps** from **Website** > **Domain** in yaya. Keep that page open.

Network Solutions DNS only works when the domain uses Network Solutions name servers. Otherwise, edit records at the company that runs your name servers.

## Sign in and find the DNS page
1. Sign in to your Network Solutions account.
2. Click **Domains** in the left menu.
3. Select your domain and click **Manage**.
4. Open the **DNS** tab.

## What the screen calls the fields
A pop-up asks for these values:
- **Refers to**: `@`, `www` or **Other Host**. For **Other Host**, type the name in **Host Name**.
- **Alias to**: where a CNAME points.
- **TXT Value**: the text of a TXT record.
- **TTL**: the default is 7200 seconds (2 hours).

## Add the CNAME record for a subdomain or www
1. Copy the CNAME target from yaya.
2. Click **+Add Record** on the **DNS** tab.
3. Choose **CNAME** as the record type.
4. Choose **www** in **Refers to**, or choose **Other Host** and type your subdomain.
5. Paste the target in **Alias to**.
6. Click **Add**.

Network Solutions says a CNAME works only for third-level names such as `www.example.com`.

## The bare domain
Network Solutions says a CNAME works only on third-level names such as `www.example.com`. Connect `www.example.com` in yaya instead.

For the bare domain, use Network Solutions Web Forwarding:
1. Open your domain and scroll to **Advanced Tools**.
2. Click **Add Web Forwarding**.
3. Forward `example.com` to `www.example.com`. Choose the 301 method.

Forwarding only works when the domain uses Network Solutions name servers. Network Solutions forwarding may not cover HTTPS. If the bare domain shows a browser warning, use the `www` address.

## Add the TXT ownership record
1. Click **+Add Record** and choose **TXT**.
2. Choose **Other Host** in **Refers to**. Type `_cf-custom-hostname.www` in **Host Name**. Use your own host after the dot. For the bare domain, type `_cf-custom-hostname`.
3. Paste the whole value from yaya in **TXT Value**, then click **Add**.

## Delete or replace a conflicting record
A CNAME cannot share a name with another record. To change a record, click the vertical ellipsis on its row and choose **Edit**. Remove an old `www` record before you add the CNAME.

Leave MX and TXT mail records as they are. A domain can have only one SPF record. See [Keep your email working](/support/articles/migrate/keep-your-email-working).

## Check the result in yaya
1. Open **Website** > **Domain**.
2. Click **Check again**.

Network Solutions says Advanced DNS changes can take up to two hours. yaya sets up HTTPS on its own. There is no deploy step.

## Fix common problems
**The page has no DNS tab.** The domain uses other name servers. Edit records there.

**The card stays on "Waiting on DNS".** See [Fix a domain that won't verify](/support/articles/domains/fix-a-domain-that-wont-verify).
