## Before you start
- Any plan. Connecting a domain you own is free on every plan.
- An OVHcloud login and a published yaya site.
- The domain uses OVHcloud name servers. The DNS zone tab only works then.

In yaya, open **Website** > **Domain**, type the name in **Hostname**, and click **Connect domain**. Keep the **DNS steps** open. They show the CNAME target and the TXT value.

Keep the old site running until yaya shows **Connected**.

## Sign in and find the DNS page
1. Sign in to the OVHcloud Control Panel.
2. Open **Web Cloud** > **Domain names**.
3. Click your domain.
4. Open the **DNS zone** tab.

The French names are **Espace client**, **Web Cloud** > **Noms de domaine**, and the **Zone DNS** tab.

## What the screen calls the fields
- **Subdomain** is the host. For `www.example.com`, type `www`. Do not type the full domain.
- **Target** is the value. It is the CNAME target from yaya.
- The record type is a list. Choose **CNAME** or **TXT**.
- **TTL** is **By default** or **Customised**. Use **By default**.

In French, the fields are **Sous-domaine** and **Cible**. The buttons are **Ajouter une entrée** and **Ajouter**.

OVHcloud says a target that is a domain name needs a final dot. Without it, OVHcloud adds your domain after the target. Type the target from yaya, then a final dot, like `<target>.`.

## Add the CNAME record for a subdomain or www
1. Click **Add an entry** above the table.
2. Choose **CNAME**.
3. Type `www` in **Subdomain**.
4. Paste the target from yaya in **Target**. End it with a dot.
5. Click **Add**.

## Use the bare domain
OVHcloud says you cannot add a CNAME on the domain itself. Its pages name A and AAAA records for the bare domain. No ALIAS option is documented. Use the www plus redirect route.

Steps for the www plus redirect route:
1. Connect `www.example.com` in yaya and add the CNAME above.
2. Open **Web Cloud** > **Domain names**. Click your domain and open the **Redirection** tab.
3. Click **Add a redirection**. Leave the subdomain empty.
4. Choose **To a web address**, then **With a visible redirection**, then **Permanent (301)**.
5. Type `https://www.example.com` in **Web address**. Click **Confirm**.

OVHcloud says this redirect handles `http://` requests only. A visitor who types `https://example.com` is not redirected. See [Use a subdomain or www](/support/articles/domains/use-a-subdomain-or-www).

## Add the TXT ownership record
yaya shows a name that starts with `_cf-custom-hostname.`.
1. Click **Add an entry** and choose **TXT**.
2. Type `_cf-custom-hostname.www` in **Subdomain**. Do not type the domain name after it.
3. Paste the yaya value in **Value**.
4. Click **Add**.

For the bare domain, type `_cf-custom-hostname`.

## Delete or replace a conflicting record
OVHcloud warns you not to keep a CNAME and a TXT record on the same subdomain. The yaya TXT name differs from `www`, so they do not clash.
1. Find the old record for the same host in the table.
2. Click **⋮** in its row.
3. Click **Edit the entry** to change the target, or **Delete the entry** to remove it.

## Check the result in yaya
1. Open **Website** > **Domain**.
2. Click **Check again**.

OVHcloud says a change can take up to 24 hours. yaya sets up HTTPS on its own. There is no deploy step. Leave your mail records as they are.

## Fix common problems
**The check does not pass.** Make sure the target ends with a dot. Make sure the **Subdomain** field has no domain name in it.

**The zone does not change anything.** The domain may use other name servers. Edit the records at that provider.

**Still waiting.** See [Fix a domain that won't verify](/support/articles/domains/fix-a-domain-that-wont-verify) and [DNS records explained](/support/articles/domains/dns-records-explained).
