## Before you start
- A generated draft. Editing never changes the live site until you publish.
- Owner or editor access. Viewers cannot publish.

## Publish for the first time
1. Open the site editor.
2. Click **Preview** and check each page.
3. Click **Publish**.
4. Click **Use a yaya domain** in the **Get a domain and publish** dialog to go live at once.
5. Click **Get a custom domain** or **Use a domain you already own** instead to use your own name.

The dialog appears only until your site has a domain or has been published once. A free address looks like your-name.yayasite.com. To use your own domain, see [Connect a domain you own](/support/articles/domains/connect-a-domain) or [Buy a domain](/support/articles/domains/buy-a-domain).

## Publish later changes
1. Make your edits in the editor.
2. Click **Publish updates**.

Visitors keep seeing the old version until you publish the new one.

## Check what went live
Open the overflow menu and click **History**. **Published versions** lists each publish, and the current one is marked **Live**.

## Change the address or take the site offline
Open the overflow menu. **Change your site address** and **Save address** rename the free address. **Take site offline** unpublishes.

## Fix common problems
**The Publish button is grey.** Either you are a Member or there is no draft yet. Check your role under **Settings** > **Team**.

**Changes are not showing.** See [Published changes not showing](/support/articles/troubleshooting/published-changes-not-showing).
