# Move a domain to yaya

Connect a domain you own to your yaya site on any plan, or transfer the registration to yaya on a paid plan.

## Connect or transfer
Connect keeps the domain at your current registrar and points it at your yaya site. You keep renewals, billing and the login where they are. Connecting works on every plan, including Free, and yaya adds no fee for it.

Transfer moves the registration itself to yaya. It needs a paid plan (Launch or Grow) and costs one more year of registration. See [Transfer a domain in to yaya](/support/articles/domains/transfer-a-domain-in).

> Tip: Connect first. Transfer later if you want. Nothing about your site changes.

## Connect your domain
1. Open **Website** > **Domain**.
2. Enter the hostname you own, like www.yourshop.com.
3. Click **Connect domain**.
4. Read the **DNS steps** yaya shows.
5. Add the record at your DNS provider. See [Switch DNS with no downtime](/support/articles/migrate/switch-dns-with-no-downtime).
6. Click **Check again** until the domain turns active.
7. Click **Make primary** when you want it as the main address.

## Move a yaya-registered domain away
If you registered the domain through yaya, click **Transfer out** next to it. yaya shows the auth code once. Copy it before you close the box.
