# Move your site to yaya

The order to move a site without losing visitors, mail or search rankings, with a checklist.

## Before you start
- Your old site stays live until step 6, so you can stop at any point.
- You need the login for your old site and for the place your domain is registered.
- Plan an afternoon. The site itself takes about 15 minutes. DNS is the slow part.

## The order
1. Build the new site first. Paste your old site address in the first step of onboarding and press **Import from my site**, or follow [Rebuild from your URL](/support/articles/getting-started/rebuild-from-your-url).
2. Save your content from the old site. See [Export content from your old site](/support/articles/migrate/export-content-from-your-old-site).
3. Move the blog and the images. See [Move your blog and images](/support/articles/migrate/move-your-blog-and-images).
4. Write down every email address on your domain. See [Keep your email working](/support/articles/migrate/keep-your-email-working).
5. Connect the domain and add the DNS record. See [Move a domain to yaya](/support/articles/migrate/move-a-domain-to-yaya) and [Switch DNS with no downtime](/support/articles/migrate/switch-dns-with-no-downtime).
6. Publish, then run the [launch checklist](/support/articles/migrate/launch-checklist-after-a-move).

## Checklist
- Old site content saved
- New site reviewed and published on your free yayasite.com address
- List of old page addresses saved, see [Redirect old URLs](/support/articles/migrate/redirect-old-urls)
- Email records written down and left alone
- Domain connected, status active
- Old site left running for a week, then cancelled
