Move your Squarespace website to yaya

Paste the address of your Squarespace website. yaya reads the page, fills in your business, and drafts a site you review before you publish.

Start with your address

Before you leave Squarespace

Download your website data

Squarespace exports some content as WordPress XML, not a complete website. Styles, store pages and some other content do not export. yaya starts from your published address, not this XML file.

  1. Keep your site published with availability set to Public; trial sites cannot export.
  2. Open the Import & export content panel.
  3. Click Export.
  4. Select the WordPress icon, even if you are moving elsewhere.
  5. Choose one primary blog if asked, then click Export.
  6. Click Download when the export is ready.
  7. Save your images separately from the published pages before cancelling Squarespace; image links alone will not keep them safe.

Move a domain you bought from Squarespace

Squarespace uses Squarespace Domains LLC, Squarespace Domains II LLC, Tucows and Key-Systems registrars. The Squarespace domain transfer guide covers these domains. Save your current domain records before starting.

  1. Open your Domains dashboard.
  2. Select the domain you want to move.
  3. Turn Domain Lock off if the switch appears and the domain is eligible.
  4. Click Request transfer code.
  5. Verify your account when prompted.
  6. Click Ok to request the code at the domain’s contact email.
  7. Give the code to your new registrar to start the transfer.

Then connect the domain to your yaya site. It connects free at every tier. Source: Export your site content. Read 2026-10-14.

How it works

  1. Copy the address. Open your Squarespace website and copy its address from the browser bar.
  2. Import your site. Paste the address into the form on this page and press Import my site.
  3. Open your draft. Sign in if asked. yaya continues the transfer. Review your draft when it is ready.
  4. Review and publish. yaya drafts the site. Review it, change anything, then publish on a free yayasite.com address.
  5. Move your domain. Connect your own domain when you are ready. It connects free at every tier.

Common questions

What does yaya read from my Squarespace website?

yaya reads the public page at the address you paste. It drafts your business description from the business name, the page description, the first paragraphs and any phone or email it finds. When yaya builds your site, it tries to copy up to 8 photos from the page, takes an accent color from it, and keeps a font when the page names one yaya offers. If yaya cannot read the page, nothing is copied. You edit everything before you publish.

Will my Squarespace website go offline?

No. yaya does not touch your Squarespace account. Your current site stays live until you point your domain at yaya.

Can I keep my domain?

Yes. Every site gets a free address on yayasite.com, and your own domain connects free at every tier.

What does yaya do after I publish?

yaya keeps working: SEO and GEO content, posts, review asks and follow-ups. Anything that costs money or reaches a customer waits for your approval.
