Fix a domain that won't verify
What to check when a connected domain stays on Waiting on DNS or shows We could not verify this domain.
Last updated
Before you start
- The domain open under Website > Domain.
- Login access to your DNS provider.
Check the record
- Read the DNS steps under your hostname.
- Open your DNS provider and find the record for that hostname.
- Compare the name and the value, character by character.
- Fix any difference and save.
- Wait a few minutes, then click Check again.
Once the record is correct, leave it alone. It can take a while to spread.
Fix common problems
The card says "We could not verify this domain". Setup for the hostname stopped on the provider side, so fixing DNS will not clear it. Click Reconnect to start it again. If it stops again, click Remove and email support@yaya.page with the hostname.
The record sits on the wrong name. Some providers add your domain to the name for you. If the name becomes shop.example.com.example.com, enter only shop.
An old record for the same name is still there. Delete it. A name cannot hold a CNAME and an A record at once.
The domain is bare, like example.com. A plain CNAME is not allowed there. Add the ALIAS or ANAME (CNAME flattening) record yaya shows. If your provider has none, connect www.example.com and redirect the bare domain to it.
The card says "Securing HTTPS". DNS is right. The certificate takes a few minutes after DNS spreads.
The card says "Connection didn't finish". Click Resume connection. Nothing is lost.
Nothing changes after an hour. Click Remove, connect the domain again and re-add the record. Then email support@yaya.page with the hostname and the record you added.
