Move your site from GoDaddy to yaya

Export what GoDaddy lets you export, rebuild the site in yaya from its address, and move your domain.

What moves and what does not

yaya reads the public text, headings and image references on your live GoDaddy site and drafts a new site from them. GoDaddy's Websites + Marketing lets you export online store products as a CSV file. Appointments, email marketing and store orders stay in GoDaddy.

Before you start

  • A GoDaddy login and a yaya account.
  • About 30 minutes, plus DNS wait time.

Move your site

  1. Open your GoDaddy product page and click Manage next to Websites + Marketing.
  2. Expand Commerce, click Products, then Export if you sell products. The CSV downloads to your computer.
  3. Save the photos you want from your GoDaddy media.
  4. Open yaya and start onboarding. Paste your site address under Already have a website? (optional) and click Import from my site.
  5. Read the description under What does your business do? and fix it.
  6. Pick your business type, location and language, then click Next.
  7. Review the draft, upload your photos, and publish. See Publish your site.

Point your domain to yaya

A domain bought at GoDaddy can stay there. Open its DNS records in your GoDaddy account and change only the records yaya tells you to. Follow Move a domain to yaya and Switch DNS with no downtime.

If GoDaddy hosts your email, keep the mail records. See Keep your email working.

Fix common problems

The domain still shows the old site. Wait for DNS to update, then see Old site still showing.

The store did not move. Set up card payments in yaya. See Take card payments.
