What moves and what does not
yaya reads the public text, headings and image references on your live Jimdo site and drafts a new site from them. We could not confirm a full site export on Jimdo, so plan to copy anything the page does not show. Jimdo stores, newsletters and form entries do not move.
Before you start
- A Jimdo login and a yaya account.
- Your domain login.
- About 30 minutes, plus DNS wait time.
Move your site
- Open your live Jimdo site and copy its address from the browser bar.
- Copy any text you want that is not on the public pages into a document.
- Save your photos from the Jimdo editor.
- Open yaya and start onboarding. Paste the address under Already have a website? (optional) and click Import from my site.
- Read the description under What does your business do? and add what you copied.
- Pick your business type, location and language, then click Next.
- Review the draft, upload your photos, and publish. See Publish your site.
Point your domain to yaya
If Jimdo registered the domain, look in your Jimdo domain settings for how to change its DNS or transfer it out. Then follow Move a domain to yaya and Switch DNS with no downtime.
Add redirects for pages whose addresses change.
Fix common problems
The import is empty. Your site may need a sign-in to view. Paste the text into the description yourself.
Old addresses give 404. Redirect them to the matching page in yaya.
